A good purpurea for basketry to accompany the usual suspects, as its light green color nicely compliments the more common darker browns. Grows a little longer and larger than Dicky Meadows and Green Dicks. Its early spring foliage is burgundy tipped and kind of wonderful, making it a good choice for living fences as well.
