Willow for Erosion Control
There are many reasons why one would want or need to control stream bank erosion and the problem may be small, or quite large. Regardless, the most sustainable and ecologically friendly way to protect waterway banks is with vegetation. Willow is especially suitable because of its ease of planting, ability to thrive in wet conditions, and to quickly root and grow. It also provides habitat for resident wildlife. Below is a link to an excellent resource describing several methods of stream bank restoration, and which one is appropriate for different situations. It is from a Scottish government publication, but the methods are universal. We can provide willow for most of these applications.
