Bundle of 6 Cuttings
Salix fragilis ‘Belgium Red’
Good for colorful basketry accents, but, as with all fragilis varieties, they are on the pithy side and are difficult to use for stakes. Bright reddish-brown when dried.
May have some branching of rods during the first 2 years, but after coppicing, rods will usually grow unbranched. Although it can kick out one or two large, dominant rods, it is a healthy grower and will provide a variety of lengths for weavers.
The wine colored rods, with olive green tint, and beautiful leaves, along with its DEER RESISTANCE make it a top pick for fedges and living willow work.
Coppiced annually, it grows 7-10 ft. in a season for us. Will grow into a tree 50-60 ft. with no coppicing.
